For roofing contractors

Google Solar roof data, OpenStreetMap fallback

Available now in the RoofCalc app.

What it does

Paid plans try Google Solar building data (sloped roof segments and pitch) first. Every plan falls back to OpenStreetMap building footprints.

How it works

Solar results are graded by imagery quality (high, medium, low) and the grade is returned with the result (not on screen yet). By default, Solar results from imagery taken April to October (leaves on the trees) are skipped in favour of the fallback. The OpenStreetMap path uses the building footprint, and for pitch uses the building's map tag when there is one, otherwise a regional or building-type estimate, because a footprint carries no slope.

What it does not do yet

A LiDAR source is in the code but not part of any plan yet. Footprint estimation and manual tracing tiers are not built.
