Who we are
RoofCalc is run by [LEGAL ENTITY — to be confirmed], trading as Harmony AI Technologies (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at hello@harmonyaitechnologies.com.
What this policy covers
This website (https://roofcalc-app.vercel.app), the RoofCalc app at https://roofcalc-flutter-web.vercel.app, and the programming interface (API) the app uses to measure roofs and keep your records.
What we collect
- Account details. Your name, email address and password. The password is stored only as a salted hash, never as the password itself. We also store your account type (contractor or homeowner), your company name and phone number if you give them, your display theme, and your account's role and status.
- Sign-in sessions. Each time you sign in we create a session with an expiry date, and record the IP address and browser it came from.
- Measurements. For each roof you measure: the address, roof and footprint area, pitch, confidence score, the data source used, and any notes. We also store the job rates you save (price per square foot, tear-off, decking, disposal and margin).
- Credits and billing. Your measurement credit balance. Once paid plans open, we also store your Stripe customer ID, plan, subscription status and renewal date. Card details are entered on Stripe's pages and go to Stripe, not to us.
- Account events. A log of some account events, such as changes an administrator makes to your account.
- Homeowner estimate requests. If a homeowner sends the estimate request form: the property address, city, state and ZIP code, name, email, phone, the reason for the request and any notes, and whether they agreed to email or text messages. When someone opts in, we record the time and the IP address of that consent.
- Files you upload. Uploading your existing measurement reports is not open in the app yet. When it is, uploaded files will be stored with Vercel Blob.
- How the app is used. The RoofCalc app uses PostHog product analytics to record visits to the app, clicks, and actions such as signing in, registering, and starting, finishing or failing a measurement. Measurement events include the address you measured. Sign-in and registration events include your account role and status. This website does not use analytics.
- Server logs. Our host, Vercel, keeps request logs (IP address, browser, the page or API address requested) to run and protect the service.
Where an address goes when you measure it
To measure a roof, RoofCalc sends the address or its coordinates to outside services:
- Finding the address: Mapbox, when it is switched on, or OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service otherwise. They receive the address text you typed.
- Finding the building: the OpenStreetMap Overpass service receives the coordinates, and Microsoft's Planetary Computer receives a small area around them.
- Roof shape and pitch (paid plans only): Google's Solar API receives the coordinates.
We do not send these services your name or email address. Each one handles what it receives under its own privacy terms. Building data from OpenStreetMap is © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License.
Companies that process data for us
- Vercel hosts this website, the API and uploaded files.
- [DATABASE HOST — to be confirmed] runs the PostgreSQL database that holds your account and measurements.
- Stripe processes payments once paid plans open.
- PostHog provides product analytics in the app, on servers in the United States.
- Mapbox, OpenStreetMap, Microsoft and Google receive addresses or coordinates as described above.
These companies may process data in the United States and other countries. [DATABASE REGION — to be confirmed]
How we use your data
- To measure roofs, keep your measurement history and apply your job rates.
- To run your account: sign-in, credits, and billing once it opens.
- To protect the service, for example with request limits, and to find and fix problems.
- To understand how the app is used, so we can decide what to improve.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for advertising. RoofCalc does not send marketing email or text messages today. If it does in future, it will only send them to people who opted in.
Cookies and browser storage
- Sign-in. A session cookie keeps you signed in. The app also keeps a sign-in token in your browser's local storage. Both are needed for the app to work.
- Theme. The app and this website may remember your light or dark theme in local storage.
- Analytics. In the app, PostHog stores an anonymous identifier in a cookie and in local storage.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and measurements while your account is open. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete it, except for records we must keep by law, such as billing records. [RETENTION PERIODS — to be confirmed]
Your choices
You can ask us to show you, correct, export or delete the personal data we hold about you. Email hello@harmonyaitechnologies.com from the address on your account. Doing this yourself inside the app is not built yet, so we handle requests by hand. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under local law. [STATE AND COUNTRY RIGHTS — to be confirmed by counsel]
Security
The security page lists the safeguards in place today and the ones that are not in place yet. No online service can promise perfect security.
Children
RoofCalc is a tool for businesses and homeowners. It is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes we will update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use data you have already given us, we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect.
